Why We Built Mappedin Maker

We understand the need for user-friendly and accessible indoor mapping tools, especially for schools, first responders, and communities. Through working with safety organizations and partners, we learned that having up-to-date indoor maps was often difficult to access, completely missing, or creating them was overly complicated. That’s why we’ve developed Maker—to address this gap and enable anyone to create accurate and useful indoor maps. 

With the introduction of this free application, Maker extends to everyone, empowering communities, building managers, and individuals to actively participate in mapping at scale. Maker places the mapping tools directly in your hands, making indoor mapping more inclusive than ever before.

What is Mappedin Maker?

Maker is an indoor mapping application that allows anyone to create an accurate digital map in a matter of minutes, with no training required. Its user-friendly interface and AI-powered tools simplify the mapping process, saving you valuable time and effort. Whether you’re mapping a shopping mall, an office building, or a school, Maker puts the mapping tools right at your fingertips, making it easy for anyone.

Simple Self-Sign-up: Getting started is a breeze. With just a few steps, users can sign up and begin creating their map for free.

User-Friendly Map Creation and Editing: Maker's intuitive interface allows users to create and update their maps effortlessly, thanks to AI-powered tools.

Interactive Wayfinding Maps: After creating a map in Maker, users gain access to a 3D wayfinding map that can be easily embedded into their website.

Multi-Format Exports: In addition to your wayfinding map, Maker enables users to download a safety version of their map, ready to be shared with local emergency response units.

How Does it Work?

Getting started with Maker is simple. After signing up, you have two options: you can either upload existing floor plan images or start from scratch with the Maker App for iOS. When uploading existing floor plans, Maker uses AI to automatically draw doors, walls, and windows. Once your map is ready, you can easily access it to make more edits, add connections to different levels, add safety annotations, and much more. No training is required. 

When starting from scratch and using the Maker App for iOS, simply walk around to scan your space and the tool will guide you through the rest of the process. Once scanned, the data captured is used to create a map and then imported into Mappedin Maker for further editing on a desktop computer.

When you’re ready, publish the map to make it available to others. An interactive wayfinding map can be embedded on your website with a simple code snippet or export the map as a PDF to share it with your local fire department.
