The Mappedin Developer Relations (DevRel) team sits at the unique intersection of product, engineering, marketing, and community. They bridge the gap between the Mappedin developer community, customers, and internal teams. As the DevRel team advocates and educates, they continuously build and nurture strong relationships to ensure all parties have the resources and support they need to create innovative and impactful solutions. In addition to engaging with developers on the Mappedin Developer Community Forum, some of the DevRel team responsibilities include:

  • Technical Demos: Create compelling demos and developer tutorials for sales and marketing, users, and customers, showcasing practical applications and benefits for indoor mapping solutions.

  • Product Evangelism: Promote Mappedin products and solutions at conferences, meetups, and other industry events, highlighting the value and capabilities.

  • Product Feedback Loop: Act as a crucial feedback loop between mapmakers, developers, and the internal teams, providing insights based on user experiences to improve the Mappedin SDK and Mappedin mapping tools.

  • Documentation and Guides: Creating comprehensive documentation and guides on the Mappedin Developer portal that help developers and businesses learn how to effectively build and customize their maps and features using our tools.

  • Content Creation: Producing a variety of content including blog posts, video tutorials, and code samples to educate and engage with the developer community.

  • Sales and Marketing Support: Offer technical knowledge and answer any queries, ensuring that potential clients have a clear understanding of our products' capabilities.

In addition, the DevRel team also provides technical support, delivers workshops, organizes and participates in hackathons, and fosters relationships with developer across the industries we serve.

Why DevRel Exists at Mappedin

Mappedin has always supported customers with technical implementation and provided guidance on solution building. That’s how several Mappedin products and services began; building integrations for customers that wanted to do more with indoor maps. Having a dedicated technical team ready to support customers throughout their journey, whether they’re considering services or a long-standing customer that uses the entire portfolio of products, felt logical. An internal center for developer excellence made up of those who like to talk to customers allows developers who are experts at building products to focus on innovation.

Now, let’s meet the DevRel team!

Meet Chris: Solutions Architect

I’m Chris and I’ve been with Mappedin for over a year. I’m passionate about using design and development to bridge the gap between technology and customer needs. Over the years, I have honed my ability to identify and address customer pain points, ensuring that solutions are not only functional but also aligned with the specific challenges they face. I collaborate closely with the Sales team to engage with prospective customers and help them integrate our incredible technology into their offerings.

Sometimes customers require technical information while other times, they benefit from demonstrations that bring our technology to life within their specific context. Each day presents new and exciting challenges!

Meet Kim: Senior Developer Evangelist

Hi there! I’m Kim. It’s been almost a year since I’ve started my role here as Senior Developer Evangelist. I help create documentation, code samples, blogs, and video content for both internal and external use. I also engage our community through our developer forum, in-person meetups, and hackathons! With seven years of experience as a software engineer and developer evangelist, I thrive at the intersection of technology and community.

I love how dynamic and varied my work is, allowing me to constantly learn and grow. Whether it's troubleshooting a complex coding issue, mentoring eager students at a hackathon, or brainstorming intricate solutions with my team, I’m passionate about driving forward the world of indoor mapping and navigation. Don’t be shy to say hi and tag me in our Developer Community Forum—I’m always excited to connect and collaborate!

Meet Mark: Staff Developer Evangelist

Hey there! I’m Mark! I've been here as a Staff Developer Evangelist for over a year and my core responsibility is to ensure the success of any and all developers using Mappedin SDKs and APIs. On any given day, I’ll help external developers using Mappedin SDKs, create sample code for Web, Android, or iOS, write a developer guide or blog post, fix bugs, or add a feature to our SDK. That variety is what I like best about my job, but it can also be one of its biggest challenges. Switching coding languages multiple times a day keeps me on my toes.

I also enjoy helping people, so working with developers and seeing their apps come to fruition is very rewarding. In my 20+ years in this type of role, I’ve been lucky enough to work with developers around the world ranging from single-person startups to Fortune 100 companies. That, along with being a developer myself, helps me understand what developers require to be successful. I use that knowledge to influence product design, write documentation, and create sample code to make their jobs as easy as possible.

Meet Zach: Senior Software Developer

Hi! I’m Zach, a Senior Software Developer at Mappedin. I’ve been here for three years and I’ve been doing DevRel for the past two. I’ve written content for our community including blog posts, guides, and application demos, and spoken with customers all around the world to help bring their projects to life.

Recently, I’ve also become a member of our SDK team, where my knowledge of customers helps us to improve the developer experience and features of our SDK. I get excited hearing about new projects and fresh ideas built using Mappedin technology, and I’m passionate about engaging with our developer community and hearing their feedback.

Meet Jere: VP of Engineering, Platform

I’m Jere and I’ve been leading DevRel at Mappedin for the past three years. I also take care of our Platform development such as backend services and our SDK. That means everything from how the map data is stored and served to customers, to how it is displayed on devices. I’m extremely passionate about helping our customers be successful in using all that fantastic technology. I’m energized by seeing our customers build indoor mapping solutions that bring them value and delight end users. One of the most amazing experiences is helping hackathon participants work in a time-constrained environment and make ideas come to life. The challenging part of the job is prioritizing the work—there are always more code samples and ideas we could demonstrate with our powerful tooling.

I would say the experiences that have helped me the most are the different trials by fire I have gone through. It’s given me the confidence to solve customer issues live on calls, even with programming languages that I don’t typically use.
