Why we made locations more flexible

We heard you wanted more ways to add rich details to your locations and make your maps even more useful. You now have more flexibility and more control over how locations are presented.

We developed a more sophisticated way for you to manage your locations. Think of Location Manager as your new hub for all things location-related. All your location info is now centralized and can be edited in bulk (talk about a time-saver)! Not only that, we've added several new location fields to help you communicate to visitors the incredible variety within your spaces. The best part? All these awesome features are available starting with the Plus subscription!

Create locations with multiple approaches

  • Map-first: Select a room, point, safety annotation, or object in your map, and add a name—location created! As you create more, these automatically appear in your Location Manager. Create locations for connections, areas, and doors too – basically anything you can add to your map (except windows).
  • Location Manager-first (new): With the latest update, start in the Location Manager and then attach your location information to elements in your map—whatever works for your workflow! You can even attach location information to multiple elements (e.g. attaching an accessible restroom location to four elements identified on the map.)
  • Mapping AI-first: With Mappedin Pro, our powerful mapping AI automatically creates locations for you! Multiple locations with the same name? No problem! They'll be grouped together for easy mass-editing.

No matter how you choose to enrich your locations with details, you can easily manage and edit them using the Location Manager. Since locations are linked to various elements on your map, you also have the option to detach them. This flexibility enables further customization, allowing similar elements to have distinct information as you develop your map.

Developer Options 💻

Connect data from other systems to your map with by using the External ID field. It is a very powerful field to use with inventory management systems, reservation systems, and external platforms. Tie elements together such as objects, rooms, and locations. Paired with Mappedin SDK, this can create a powerful experience for retailers, warehouses, events, shops, or any organization needing to connect data to Mappedin.
