Who we are and what we do
Founded in 2011, Mappedin powers search and discovery indoors, enabling consumers to find what they’re looking for with speed and ease. Our software platform provides industry-leading tools to manage dynamic indoor spatial data and offer wayfinding experiences for customer-facing applications, including a recent collaboration with Apple Maps.
Mappedin works with the ten largest malls in Canada, the largest REITs in the US, and in stores, hospitals, campuses, and airports around the world.
The Development team at Mappedin builds both our platform and consumer-facing products. We are dedicated to building a high quality product and spend at least 20% of our time refactoring code. We work to turn dreams into realities, delivering the right products to our current and future clients.
Who you are and what you'll do
You love people as much as you love technology and you see Mappedin as a place to unlock your full potential. You will formulate objectives that will get the team excited and focused. You have experience leading a team and enough technical knowledge to understand project requirements and convey those to the rest of your team. You will drive our product out the door while ensuring the team is up-to-standard.
As part of the Engineering team and reporting to the CTO, you will be responsible for leading the development team and oversee our product development activities:
- Co-developing the technical strategy with the CTO while advancing the technical roadmap
- Managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Carry out managerial duties which include salary reviews, professional development and performance management
- Conduct regular team and workforce configuration planning
- Work with product managers to understand requirements and facilitate technical solutioning sessions
You are highly interested in learning about or already have experience in:
- Leading a team of developers, designers, and testers
- Helping to scale an engineering organization
- Providing not only technical innovation but also strategic innovation as well
What are some challenges?
You’ll be working on solving really hard problems that may not have been solved yet. You won’t be able to just search for an answer. Because Mappedin is still small, you will be required to get your hands dirty in the early days. We want you to really understand our platform, organization, and culture.

We value execution and will do what it takes to get things done if it’s something we’ve promised. We stay curious and will always ask each other questions, rarely making assumptions. We recognize that we are all different and will challenge each other’s views and perceptions from time to time, resulting in constructive and healthy debates, but that never stops us from all eating lunch together every day. Lastly, we have an awesome office cat who loves attention. Allergic? Don’t worry, Hobbes stays on the other side of the office and won’t bother you unless you decide to work in the collaboration area there.
